If you have any queries about my work, please contact me via the link shown at the bottom of this page.

I studied English and Art at Roehampton Institute in London.  After a period working in the public sector, I became a full time artist based at Wimbledon Art Studios (WAS).   The Studios hold an open show twice a year where visitors can browse and buy work direct from participating artists.

I draw and paint a variety of subjects but common to all is that "I was there".  Direct observation is an essential starting point for my work, whether or not the picture is completed on location.  Well known sights and classic themes are sometimes given a contemporary twist - in an urban landscape, this may be by including something that will not be there for long.  Quick sketches are often done with an ink pen and I like to include some of these sketches on my website.  Drawing the human figure at life/portrait class is good practice and can help when it comes to depicting simply portrayed figures in urban scenes.  I like the complexities and contrasts found in such scenes.

Whatever the situation and medium, my style is fairly loose and this can help with capturing movement and simplifying a scene if required.  One way I would like you, the viewer, to engage with my work is by "filling in the gaps".

Currently I am a member of the Drawing London Group - www.drawinglondon.org.uk
